Early Endothelin Antagonist trial in mildly symptomatic Pulmonary Hypertension patients.
Needed: Volunteers for further trials
Early Endothelin Antagonist trial in mildly symptomatic Pulmonary Hypertension patients.
Aim: To demonstrate efficacy of Bosentan in patients with mildly symptomatic pulmonary hypertension
Background:
Pulmonary Hypertension is a condition effecting the blood vessels of the lungs which results in symptoms of breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness & chest pain on exertion.
About 15% of patients with scleroderma may have Pulmonary Hypertension
Previous studies have shown that bosentan therapy is effective in moderate to severe Pulmonary Hypertension
No currently approved treatment in patients with mild symptoms
Early detection and treatment of PAH may delay disease progression
The EARLY study is to determine if treatment with bosentan is effective if given to patients with mild symptoms
Primary Investigator: Associate professor Anne Keogh
Co-investigators: A/Prof. Peter Macdonald, Dr Chris Hayward, Dr Eugene Kotlyar
