Why The Sunflower?
To raise awareness of the condition, Scleroderma Australia and many other countries have adopted the sunflower as their national icon. The sunflower is symbolic, as, like the sunflower which turns towards the sun for warmth; people with scleroderma are usually more comfortable in warmer weather.

Our Story

Scleroderma NSW was established in 1979 by a few dedicated scleroderma sufferers, one of whom, prior to retiring, received the Order of Australia Medal for her unfailing dedication and work within the scleroderma community.
The Scleroderma Association of NSW Inc. is a registered, non government, not for profit charitable organisation
incorporated in New South Wales in 1987.
Most of the association’s work is carried out on a voluntary basis by a small but dedicated group of members. Our office is maintained in Ashfield, Sydney, and is open at various times throughout the week depending upon the availability of volunteer staff.
